How do I know if this retreat is right for me?
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of professionals are welcomed on the retreat?

This retreat is suitable for anyone who considers themselves a "helper". The purpose of the retreat is to take care of yourself so that you can better take care of others. There will be opportunities to discuss specific examples from your work or life that you would like to reflect on and receive feedback or support from other likeminded individuals. We recommend this retreat for social workers, psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, personal support workers, caregivers, or anyone else in a helping role.

Do I have to be female to attend?

This retreat is for all female-identified participants. Trans women and people who are non-binary are welcome to attend as long as you are comfortable in shared female spaces, as the sleeping accommodations are shared.
We hope to offer future retreats open to all genders, but we chose to start with female-only retreats because women are often caregivers and nurturers, and we are seeking to create a safe space for these helpers to connect and unwind.

Please note that one of our facilitators is male, and he will not be sharing any sleeping spaces with women. He is happy to meet with anyone in advance to the retreat to foster connection and safety.

I am more comfortable in French than in English. Can I still attend?

Yes!! Please do. Two of the facilitators of the retreat are fluent in French, and you can therefore express yourself in French in any of the group settings if you feel more at ease this way. Program delivery will be primarily in English, but anything can be repeated in French if required. If you express yourself in French in a group setting, facilitators may translate your message to the group so that everyone can participate in listening and reflecting.

Can the retreat space accommodate my specific needs and abilities?

We want to make this space safe and accessible for as many people as possible, and so we want to hear from you about what you need so that we can find a way to accommodate this! Everyone has different needs and abilities, and we will do our best to accommodate yours. Please connect with us so we can discuss what needs you have, and together we can ensure we are able to accommodate you. We offer free video or phone consults if you would like to meet with us and find out if this retreat is right for you.
Unfortunately, the space is not wheelchair accessible at this time.

Are there any private sleeping spaces available?

The purpose of the retreat is to strengthen community connection, and therefore most of the sleeping arrangements are in a shared dormitory. We encourage participants to step out of their comfort zone throughout the retreat, as you might learn something new about yourself by doing so. All guests are asked to get dressed in private spaces, which are available adjacent to the dormitory rooms.

There is 1 semi-private room available with 3 beds for some increased privacy. Additionally, some private sleeping spaces may be available, but these are available at an extra cost and are being reserved for those with specific needs for this accommodation. Given that we are trying to maintain a community atmosphere, we are encouraging everyone to stay in the shared spaces so that we all have an equitable experience at this retreat. However, if a private space is very important to you, this can be discussed on an as-needed basis. Additionally, the property can accommodate tents if you are interested in camping outdoors! (Must bring your own tent, no additional cost for this).

There are plenty of spaces for guests to have time alone as needed, outside of the sleeping spaces. We recognize that people may need time to themselves to decompress, and this can be accommodated within various spaces of the retreat.

What if I am not interested in one of the activities on the itinerary?

This time is for YOU, and if one of the activities on the itinerary does not feel nourishing for you, you are welcome to use that time for yourself. We encourage guests to participate in as many community-building opportunities as possible during the retreat, but you are welcome to decompress in your own way at any time that you need to.

Can the menu meet my dietary requirements?

We are hopeful that we can accommodate all dietary needs! All food served will be vegetarian (lacto-ovo), and meals will be highly nutritious and protein-rich, with the goal of introducing delicious, healthy, affordable, and easy-to-make meals so that recipes can be replicated at home. Meals will also be limited in gluten and sugar, and a gluten-free and vegan diet can be easily accommodated. Please advise us in advance of any allergies or nutritional requirements so that we can be sure to accommodate any particular needs.

How many people will be on this retreat?

The retreat will host 5 to 10 guests, plus 3 facilitators.

I need help with transportation. How can I get to the retreat?
Transportation can be arranged from Toronto and Montreal. If you require support to attend from a different location, please send a message to facilitators and we will do our best to accommodate.
